Project: Community Hub
We are grateful to the John Paul Centre for offering us the use of their basement as a Community Hub for various activities involving both vulnerable migrant communities and the local British community.
In the Community Hub we aim to build strong relations between vulnerable migrant communities and the local community, dispelling negative myths about asylum seekers and enabling migrants to integrate into British society.
We also aim to allow migrants to benefit from fun activities such as cooking classes and arts sessions. These will allow vulnerable people to make friends and receive much needed emotional support from their peers.
This project will allow the migrant and British community to come to have good relations, something vitally important to the health and safety of the wider North East community. It will additionally allow our volunteers to meet the people they serve on a personal basis, building a rapport between our organisation and vulnerable migrants and improving the skills of IPC's volunteers.
The Community Hub will exist on a permanent basis for the foreseeable future and will host all of IPC's community events. It will be regularly open on a drop in basis so feel free to drop in for a cup of tea or coffee!
